Hello,
My name is Marla Munro, and I am a fourth-year counseling psychology doctoral student at the University of Houston under the mentorship of Dr. Nathan Grant Smith. As part of my candidacy and dissertation projects, I am conducting a research study about the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer (LGBQ+) people with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The purpose of the research is to provide OCD researchers and clinicians with more information about the needs of LGBQ+ people with OCD to improve treatment.
If you agree to participate in this study, you will complete a one-time, anonymous, online survey, which will take approximately 30–45 minutes. To be eligible, you must: (1) identify as LGBQ+, (2) live in the United States or a U.S. territory, (3) be age 18 or older, and (4) have a professional or self-diagnosis of OCD.
There are limited risks involved in this research, including the possibility that the survey content might be emotionally unsettling. Possible benefits to participants include being able to share their perspectives and helping to illuminate the experiences of LGBQ+ people with OCD. Individuals who complete the survey can choose to provide their email address to be entered into a raffle for one of four $15 Amazon gift cards.
Participation is voluntary, but I hope you will choose to be part of this study! Additionally, please consider sharing this with anyone else who might be interested in participating.
